Acceptance of Terms
By registering for an Expression Lab workshop, accessing this website, or submitting any registration or waitlist form, you ("the parent or guardian") agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions on behalf of yourself and the participant you are registering.
If you do not agree to these terms, do not register for or attend a workshop.
Workshop Eligibility
Expression Lab workshops are open to youth participants ages 5–17, divided into two age groups:
- Ages 5–10 — Beginning Explorers track
- Ages 11–17 — Skill Builders track
All registrations must be completed by a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or older. By registering, you confirm that you are the legal parent or guardian of the participant and have the authority to consent on their behalf.
Parents and guardians are required to be present on Day 3 (Camera Day) for the participant wrap-up and industry guidance session. A contact number must be provided and reachable throughout each workshop day.
Registration & Payment
Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. A spot is considered reserved only upon receipt of full payment. Spots are limited per age group to maintain a personal, high-quality experience.
Two pricing tiers are available while spots last:
- Early-Bird ($495 CAD) — available until the advertised deadline, subject to availability. Price is all-inclusive: three days of professional training and three professionally edited images.
- Standard ($595 CAD) — available after the early-bird period closes or while early-bird spots remain. Includes identical training and photo package.
All prices are in Canadian dollars and are all-inclusive. No additional fees are charged for materials, instruction, or the photo package.
Payments are processed securely via Stripe. Expression Lab does not store your payment card details.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
We understand that plans change. Our refund policy is designed to be fair to both families and our small team.
- 30 or more days before the workshop start date: Full refund issued to the original payment method, no questions asked.
- Fewer than 30 days before the workshop start date: No refund is available. However, your spot may be transferred to another eligible participant at no charge — please contact us at hello@expressionlab.ca to arrange a transfer.
- Workshop cancellation by Expression Lab: In the unlikely event we must cancel or significantly reschedule a workshop, all registered participants will receive a full refund or the option to transfer to a future date.
Refund requests must be submitted in writing to hello@expressionlab.ca. Refunds are processed within 5–10 business days.
Photo & Video Consent
Expression Lab workshops include a professional Camera Day (Day 3) during which each participant receives three professionally edited images as part of their registration. These images are the property of the participant.
In addition to the personal deliverables, Expression Lab may photograph and video record workshop activities for use in promotional materials, including but not limited to our website, social media, and advertising. By registering, you grant Expression Lab a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use likeness captures of your child taken during the workshop for these promotional purposes.
To opt out of promotional use of your child’s likeness, email us at hello@expressionlab.ca before the workshop date. Opting out does not affect your registration or the personal edited images your child receives.
Code of Conduct & Safety
Expression Lab is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants. All participants and accompanying parents or guardians are expected to:
- Treat instructors, staff, and other participants with respect and kindness
- Follow all directions from instructors and Expression Lab staff
- Refrain from bullying, harassment, or discriminatory behaviour of any kind
- Arrive on time and prepared for each workshop day
Expression Lab reserves the right to remove any participant or accompanying adult from the workshop without refund if their behaviour is deemed disruptive, unsafe, or harmful to others. This determination is at the sole discretion of the Expression Lab team.
Limitation of Liability
Expression Lab, its instructors, and its staff make no warranties, express or implied, regarding outcomes or results from participation in the workshop.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Expression Lab shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your participation in, or inability to participate in, a workshop.
Expression Lab carries appropriate insurance for workshop activities. However, parents and guardians acknowledge that participation in on-camera, modelling, and movement activities carries inherent physical risk, and agree to hold Expression Lab harmless from any claims arising from participation in normal workshop activities.
Intellectual Property
All workshop curriculum, training materials, session content, and branding are the intellectual property of Expression Lab. Participants and their families may not reproduce, distribute, or commercialise any Expression Lab materials without prior written consent.
Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada. Any disputes arising from these terms or from participation in an Expression Lab workshop shall be resolved in the courts of British Columbia.
Changes to These Terms
Expression Lab reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time. Updates will be posted to this page with a revised date. Continued use of the site or participation in workshops after updates are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. For material changes affecting registered participants, we will notify affected families by email.
